The outreach today went very well. I would like thank EVERYONE who participated whether donations or volunteering Saturday! We were able to supply backpacks to all of the Kingsway residents children, Pre-k through 6th grade. We also provided kinder-mats for all of the Pre-k @ Lincoln Elementary. The kids today enjoyed cookies, kool-aid, and 2 Jumpers! Our participating ministers had an opportunity to speak with many of the residents. More than anything Jesus was exalted today not just in word but by loving our neighbors!
Here are some images of the backpacks I will be ordering for $6. They have a cell phone holder and a water bottle holder. The scripture is attached to the zipper on a tag to be removed. They are really nice backpacks.

For those who are interested in participating and planning on purchasing a backpack and supplies I wanted to inform you of a way to save a little money. I ran across a ministry that provides backpacks, good quality, for outreaches @ $4.75/backpack + shipping…they are of the same quality as Jansport. If you would like you can commit to purchasing the school supplies and donate $6 for the backpack.
The cheapest backpacks I have seen at Wal Mart are $9.00 + tax and no where near the quality of the backpack.
If you are planning on using these backpacks I will need the donation by Friday July 23, 2010.
I appreciate everyone’s help with this.

Definition of Revival
1 : an act or instance of reviving : the state of being revived: as a : renewed attention to or interest in something b : a new presentation or publication of something old c (1) : a period of renewed religious interest (2) : an often highly emotional evangelistic meeting or series of meetings
2 : restoration of force, validity, or effect (as to a contract)
When we pray for revival to sweep across our church, cities, states, America, or world…what are we praying for? Are we praying for souls to be saved or for God to move and revive His local churches? The thing about this is the Holy Spirit dwells within all believers…so we do not need more God if He lives within us. So if the meaning of revival refers to something being restored or revived it would have to already exist to be revived. So revival isn’t for souls being saved but for the body of Christ to be revived.
My first issue is: this reflects a God that we have to wait on. That until He moves we cannot be revived. It puts all the blame on God. Do we really need more God when He already dwells within us or do we need less of us? Is it our responsibility to stay revived or Gods? Do we really have to wait on a Father to move when He has already paid the ultimate price? Why does a redeemed child of God need to be revived? If we as redeemed children need to be revived it is because we have lost touch with our Father…you want to be revived give up the things of this world keeping you from Him and go to Him!
Secondly is: it reflects an “I” mentality. We are already bought, adopted children of God, sons and daughters of God, redeemed men and women with God Himself living within us. Its focus is on God blessing us…is this the revival you are praying for? A”revived” child of God is one who is going to walk in obedience to God’s Word. According to the Word of God, those who obey Christ are those who love Christ (Read John chapters 14,15, & 16).
So when you are praying for revival I ask are you really wanting to be revived? If so, start living in obedience to the word of God and watch the revival take place in your life. Remember you are what you hang around…not meaning to abstain from the world but watch who your good friends are…( 1 Corinthians 5:6, 1 Corinthians 15:33, Proverbs 12:26, Proverbs 27:17)
Have you noticed how much praying for revival has been going on of late & how little revival has resulted? The problem is that we have been trying to substitute praying for obeying, & it simply will not work. To pray for revival while ignoring the plain precept laid down in Scripture is to waste a lot of words & get nothing for our trouble. Prayer will become effective when we stop using it as a substitute for obedience. ~A.W. Tozer
